The world is currently undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. As China enters the new era of high-quality development, China and the UK are forging a more pragmatic, inclusive and mutually beneficial partnership.

The Chinese enterprises in the UK have always been an important bond and bridge between China and the UK, acting as the practitioners and driving forces to promote China-UK cooperation on economic and trade, financial services, and people to people exchanges between the two countries. Last year, the CCCUK has worked closely with Chinese enterprises in the UK and has carried out a wide range of highly quality results. For instance, the CCCUK has explored new frameworks for China-UK cooperation on the “Belt and Road Initiative”, promoted greater exchanges between Chinese enterprises and UK government and businesses, and expedited a pluralistic platform, instigating more highlights on China-UK cultural and charity exchange and cooperation. These achievements have further improved the overall influence of Chinese enterprises in the UK, further enhanced and deepened China-UK win-win cooperation, and made outstanding contributions in promoting China-UK relations.

2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. After 70 years of hard work, China has achieved worldwide recognition for its achievement in development. China will continue to deepen reform and opening up, pursue a peaceful development and promote the construction of human community for mankind along with international society. I hope that the CCCUK will adhere to the principles of “Openness, Cooperation, and Mutual Benefit”, and continue to make great achievements in the wake of all their successes. The CCCUK could act as the story-teller of China’s reform and opening up, and build greater mutually-beneficial and win-win success for both Chinese and British enterprises. The CCCUK could act as the pioneer for the “Belt and Road Initiative”, agglomerating intellect and contribution as fuel for high-quality collaboration. The CCCUK could also act as the facilitator in building a community with a shared future for humankind, using practical actions to enhance exchange and friendship between the two countries, and setting a good model for promoting cultural exchanges and the common symbiosis between the East and the West.

I sincerely wish “Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China & the 2nd China-UK Economic and Trade Forum” a complete success. May this forum instigate new ideas and synergy for the China-UK “Golden Era”!

2019年是中华人民共和国成立70周年。经过70年艰苦奋斗，中国取得了世人公认的发展成就，今后将坚持全面深化改革，坚持扩大对外开放，坚持走和平发展道路，与国际社会一道推动构建人类命运共同体。希望英国中国商会秉承“开放、合作、共享”的原则，再接再厉，续创佳绩。要做“改革开放”的宣介者，讲好中国改革开放故事，助力中英企业互利共赢。要做“一带一路”的开拓者，凝聚共识和众智，推动“一带一路”向高质量发展。要做“文明互鉴”的推进者，用实际行动增进两国交往和友谊，为促进东西方文明和合共生树立典范。
